TEZPUR, May 6: National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Tezpur sub regional office, organised a camp on Annual Survey of Industries (AST) on Thursday to sensitise the industrial units on self compilation and filing of Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) returns through the dedicated web portal. Representatives from different industry units participated in the day-long camp held at the auditorium of ATDC Prashanti here.
The programme started with the welcome address and brief introduction about the survey by the Joint Director, E. Renhi Jami of NSSO Dibrugarh. After that, Dr. K. Manas Singh, Deputy Director General of NSSO Dibrugarh highlighted the importance of the survey and the requirement of organising such camps so as to facilitate the industry units in self compilation and submission of their ASI returns in the web portal. He appealed to all the factory units for their cooperation in completing the survey in a timely manner. The Annual Survey of Industries (AST) is the principal source of industrial statistics in India. It provides statistical information on the trajectory of growth and economic health of registered industries of the country relating to manufacturing processes, repair services, gas & water supply and cold storage. The survey is being conducted every year by NSSO under the statutory provisions of Collection of Statistics Act, 2008.
