JORHAT, Aug 30: Professor Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, vice chancellor of Assam Women’s University (AWU), announced the introduction of NCC as a subject at AWU starting from this academic session in accordance with the guidelines of the New Education Policy, 2020.
Addressing the 10-day annual training camp of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) organised by AWU and 51 Assam Air Tech Sqn at Rowriah, Professor Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar welcomed students from different states who were participating in the camp. She emphasised the significance of NCC training, highlighting how it enables cadets to cultivate qualities of team spirit, discipline, and self-dependence, all of which are invaluable for their future endeavours.
Brigadier Ritesh Bhal, group commander of the Indian Army and guest of honour at the event, encouraged the cadets to use these camps for community service and personal development. He also discussed the privileges enjoyed by NCC cadets and provided insights into various aspects of NCC.
The opening ceremony included a welcome address by AWU registrar Tapan Kumar Gohain and was moderated by Goldee Bora, assistant professor in the department of Fashion Technology at AWU, and coordinator of NCC at the university. The annual training camp promises to provide cadets with an opportunity to enhance their skills, knowledge, and personal growth through structured activities.
