DIPHU, Oct 19: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Karbi Anglong under the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, government of India, organised a District Level Yuva Utsav on Wednesday.
In the Utsav, various competitions were organised for the youths at Rangsina Sarpo Cultural Auditorium, Lorulangso here.
Young writers contest, young artists contest, photography contest and declamation contest with the theme ‘Take pride in our heritage and legacy’. A workshop and cultural festival were held for youths between 15 to 29 years of age. The district youth convention was also held.
Participating in the Utsav, MP Horensing Bey said, “It is a good initiative by NYK. The youth festival will allow youths to expose their talent.”
The MP said, “The purpose of organising the Utsav is to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. To celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, PM Narendra Modi has come up with various plans and programmes like youth and women empowerment, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, special remission for prisoners, etc.”
He also said, “There are talents in youth which need to be promoted by providing them a proper platform. The students of today will be leaders tomorrow.”
He reminded the youths of self-reliance, and capacity building, to have positive thinking and ways of doing things.
MLA, Bidyasing Engleng and DC, Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bagawati also spoke about the promotion of talents among the youths.

Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. Members of Autonomous Council (MAC), Phengpiga Rengma and Assam Gaurav awardee Khorsing Terang were present in the prize distribution.
