SIVASAGAR, March 13: The Gramya Sambadik Santha, Asom (The Assam State Rural Reporters Forum), in its annual meeting at Demow Kasamari on Saturday formed its new body of office bearers with Trailukya Chetia (Moran) as the president, Dhrubajyoti Gogoi as working president and Rupjyoti Handique (Demow) as the secretary and 13 other executive members. Speaking on the role of rural reporters, Dr Sashikanta Saikia, principal of DHS Kanoi College, Dibrugarh, said that rural reporters should enhance their skill and knowledge so that they can compete with reporters at national and international levels. Rural reporters, he said, are the eyes and ears of the rural people and hence they bear a heavy responsibility of taking all information on government schemes and policies to the rural folk.
