New committee elected for Batadroba Than Management

NAGAON, Nov 3: A general meeting of the Batadroba Than Management Committee was held at the than premises on Sunday, presided over by noted journalist and Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor Dr Samudra Gupta Kashyap during which a new committee was elected.

The meeting was attended by district officials, including District Commissioner Debashish Sarma and Superintendent of Police Swapnanil Deka along with devotees and management committee members.

A six-member inquiry committee was also formed to investigate allegations of corruption and irregularities in the previous committee, with a report expected within six months.

Lachit Bordoloi was elected General Secretary for a three-year term, while Amlan Jyoti Dev Goswami of Noruwa Satra was elected president and Yogendra Narayan Dev Mahanta of Shaulguri Satra as vice-president. The meeting concluded with a resolution to hold another general meeting in six months to review the inquiry committee’s findings and take action against those found guilty. The election was held under tight security, marking a milestone in the history of the Batadroba Than.
