GUWAHATI, Dec 3: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reached a major digital milestone by fully implementing a biometric Sign On/Sign Off system for all Ticket Checking Staff across its five divisions. With this, 100% of the 22 TTE lobbies under NFR are now equipped with biometric attendance facilities, marking a new benchmark in transparency and efficiency.

The system has been activated at key stations including Katihar, Kishanganj, Alipurduar Junction, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya Junction, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Dibrugarh Town and New Tinsukia. Through real-time, accurate attendance capture, it ensures reliable monitoring of staff movement, duty compliance and deployment for train manning and onboard responsibilities.

According to NFR, the introduction of biometric attendance has significantly strengthened the overall efficiency of Ticket Checking operations. Improved discipline and punctuality among staff have enhanced service delivery, while increased checking effectiveness has helped curb ticketing irregularities leading to higher revenue. The presence of staff in the field has also resulted in increased window ticket sales, contributing further to NFR’s earnings.

To maintain seamless functioning, dedicated teams at both the Divisional and Zonal Headquarters continuously oversee the biometric network and track real-time data from all lobbies.

NFR stated that the initiative reflects its commitment to adopting modern digital technologies aimed at bolstering operational efficiency, enhancing passenger services and driving revenue growth. The step marks a notable advancement towards a more transparent and technologically robust railway network.
