GUWAHATI, Jan 31: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has recorded significant achievements in railway infrastructure and safety enhancement during FY 2025-26, reaffirming its focus on safe, reliable and passenger-friendly services.
The Engineering Department completed 9 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and 8 Road Under Bridges (RUBs), eliminated 21 manned level crossings, rehabilitated 12 bridges and provided pathways on 77 bridges for safer inspections. Rail renewal covered 337.4 km, sleeper renewal spanned 329 km and 7.649 lakh cubic metres of ballast were laid, while 16 permanent speed restrictions were removed to improve train mobility and punctuality.

Passenger amenities saw major upgrades with the opening of 13 Foot Over Bridges, 3 high-level platforms, 18 platform sheds and extensions at 10 platforms. Platform raising works were completed at 7 stations, while Haibargaon station works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme were completed.
Track safety improved with 197 turnout renewals, insertion of 180 thick web switches, 165 weldable CMS crossings, correction of 19 defective layouts and deep screening at 207 turnouts. Mechanised maintenance achieved a record 48.15 km of CTR/TRS(P) works in December 2025, with a cumulative mechanised progress of 251 km, doubling last year’s output.
Revenue from land utilisation and shop/siding licensing reached Rs 43 crore, while speed enhancements on loop lines at 29 stations raised speeds from 15 kmph to 30 kmph.
These initiatives underscore NFR’s commitment to modernisation, infrastructure strengthening and passenger convenience, consolidating its role in regional connectivity and a safer, more efficient railway network.
