NFR extends special train services to ease festive rush

GUWAHATI, March 6: To clear the additional rush of passengers during the festive season, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has extended the services of weekly special train No 04654/04653 (Amritsar–New Jalpaiguri–Amritsar) and will also operate a one-way special train between Guwahati and Delhi.

The weekly special train No 04654 (Amritsar–New Jalpaiguri) will run every Wednesday from March 4 to March 25, 2026. In the return direction, train No 04653 (New Jalpaiguri–Amritsar) will operate every Friday from March 6 to March 27, 2026. The train will run with the existing schedule, timings, composition and stoppages.

In addition, a one-way special train No 05699 (Guwahati–Delhi) will operate on March 8, 2026. The train will depart from Guwahati at 9:30 PM and is scheduled to reach Delhi at 1:00 PM on March 10. It will halt at major stations including Rangiya, New Jalpaiguri, Begusarai, Chhapra, Varanasi and Prayagraj Junction, among others.

The train will run with AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, Sleeper Class and General coaches to accommodate passengers. NFR stated that these special services will help manage heavy passenger demand and ease congestion on busy routes.

Passengers have been advised to check detailed schedules and stoppages on the IRCTC website and NFR’s official social media platforms before undertaking their journey.
