GUWAHATI, June 14:
In an effort to ensure the safety and comfort of rail passengers, NF Railway undertook various track renewal works and track safety measures during the month of June 2023.
One of the key accomplishments in June was the Through Sleeper Renewal of 11.42 track kilometers, contributing to a cumulative progress of 30.45 track kilometers. Additionally, Through Turnout Renewals of 5.25 equivalent sets were carried out, resulting in a cumulative progress of 22.25 sets.
To maintain track integrity and safety, 1730.92 kilometers of track were tested using the Ultra Sonic Flaw Detection (USFD) technique. This method helps identify flaws like cracks and facilitates the timely removal of defective rails. Moreover, in June 2023, three Engineering Scale Plans (ESP) and 18 Signal & Telecommunication plans were approved.
Welding of 342 rail joints was performed using the flash butt welding method, bringing the cumulative progress to 2405 rail joints. Furthermore, 684 signalling batteries of various capacities were replaced across NF Railway during this period.
Regular maintenance of tracks has contributed to the smooth operation of trains and a better riding experience for passengers. The increased focus on safety measures for railway tracks has resulted in safer train operations, higher speeds, and an improved overall journey experience.
