GUWAHATI, Aug 10: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) registered a 2.37% growth in freight unloading in July 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to an official statement.
The statement said a total of 1,081 freight-carrying rakes were unloaded during the month.
Of these, 590 rakes were unloaded in Assam, including 267 carrying essential commodities.
In the same period, 89 rakes were unloaded in Tripura, 15 in Nagaland, nine in Arunachal Pradesh, 14 in Manipur, and three each in Meghalaya and Mizoram.
Within NFR’s jurisdiction, 212 rakes were also unloaded in West Bengal and 146 in Bihar during July.
The statement added that uninterrupted supply of essential and other commodities is vital for sustaining daily life and boosting economic activity in the region.
It said the speedy completion of doubling projects in key sections has improved inward and outward freight movement, enabling quicker and more efficient transportation of goods and contributing to the steady rise in freight unloading across the zone.
