GUWAHATI, Oct 15: In a continuous effort to maintain the supply of essential and other commodities, the Northeast Frontier Railway has achieved a significant increase in freight unloading. During the month of September this year, a total of 1084 freight-carrying rakes were successfully unloaded. From April to September 2023, during the current financial year, a total of 6735 freight-carrying rakes were unloaded within the jurisdiction of the N. F. Railway.
The N. F. Railway played a crucial role in transporting various goods, including FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, fertilizer, cement, coal, automobiles, containers, and other items during September. These goods were subsequently unloaded in different goods sheds within the railway’s jurisdiction.
In the month of September 2023, the unloading of freight-carrying trains included 614 rakes in Assam, with 333 of them loaded with essential commodities. Furthermore, 84 rakes were unloaded in Tripura, 17 in Nagaland, 11 in Manipur, 6 in Arunachal Pradesh, and 5 in Mizoram. Additionally, 205 freight rakes in West Bengal and 142 freight rakes in Bihar were also successfully unloaded within the jurisdiction of the N. F. Railway.
The rapid execution of doubling works at important sections across the N.F. Railway has contributed to the increased inward and outward movement of freight traffic. This, in turn, has led to a growth in freight unloading and the movement of essential and other commodities.
