GUWAHATI, June 2: As part of its commitment to sustainability, Northeast Frontier Railway has reclaimed a wasteland and constructed a park named Sirisha Rail Udyaan in its place at BG Colony, Maligaon. NF Railway always initiates efforts to protect the environment and preserve the planet for future generations.

The newly constructed Sirisha Rail Udyaan was previously a wasteland area. Due to waterlogging and garbage dumping, the place was almost abandoned and unhygienic for the nearby residents. The area was unsightly, and the foul odour made life difficult for people in the vicinity. NF Railway reclaimed the wasteland and constructed a park for the local community. The park covers an area of approximately fifty-five hundred square meters and offers modern facilities such as walking and running tracks for people of all ages, seating arrangements, a lawn area, and an open gym. Additionally, the park features separate washrooms for men and women. The walls of the park are painted to impart knowledge about the nature and cultural history of Assam. In addition to a children’s play area, solar LED lamps have been installed, and the park includes a beautiful pond with two water fountains.

Residents of the locality have appreciated this initiative by NF Railway, as they no longer have to deal with garbage, flies, and mosquitoes. Since the transformation of the water body into a park, everything has changed in the area; children play, and people come here for walks. NF Railway is consistently engaged in protecting the environment by planting trees at various locations. This strategic commitment aims to enhance green cover in and around the zone, contributing to the beauty of the area and supporting biodiversity and sustainable development.
