NAGAON, March 13: Over hundreds of workers being engaged in construction works of NH-37 four-lane road from Uriagoan towards Sonitpur under Simplex Construction Company on Monday staged protest at its Rongagarha based office and demanded their monthly wages which was being pending for over months.
Taking various placards and banners against the authority concerned of the construction company, the workers came to the local office of the company at Samaguri Rongagarha area and staged a strong protest there.
During the stir, the workers alleged that the authority concerned of the construction company had not paid their respective wages for over a year although they were working at the site.
It was also alleged that the company had not paid the dues to the contractors being engaged in earth filling and other stone crushers of the greater Samaguri areas for over a year from which the company took stones for construction work of the four lane road.
The workers urged the chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in the issue and take initiative to release their wages from the construction company as early as possible.
