BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 21: Niranjan Das, a noted snake rescuer from the Sootea area, has been conferred with the Sarpa Bandhu (Snake Friend) title by eminent environmentalist and snake rescuer Sourabh Barkataky at a function held at the Baliram Lahkar Auditorium in Tezpur recently.
Das received the honour along with a citation, memento, and gamosa in recognition of his dedicated service in rescuing snakes across the greater Sootea, Biswanath, and Naduar regions.
He has been actively involved in rescuing and safely releasing numerous snakes from residential areas.
During the event, nine other snake rescuers were also conferred with the Sarpa Bandhu title, while four individuals were felicitated for their contributions in rescue operations and saving the lives of snakebite victims.
Organisations and individuals from the Sootea area have extended their congratulations to Niranjan Das for the recognition. The felicitation coincided with the observance of World Snake Day.
