Nowgong Girls’ College observes International Day of Democracy

NAGAON, Sept 15: The International Day of Democracy was celebrated at Nowgong Girls’ College on Friday, featuring a special lecture on ‘Democracy: Changing Time and Context’, organised by the department of Political Science.

Dr Kulen Chandra Das, the college’s principal, inaugurated the event. Dr Monoj Kumar Nath, principal of Rupahi College, delivered the keynote address on the subject. He elucidated various facets of democracy and emphasised the need for democracy in the current context. Dr Nath urged all concerned to embrace democratic values and spirit, which are crucial for responsible citizenship. He also highlighted the significant role that Indian youth can play in the democratic functioning of institutions.

The event also included an interactive session. Ranjit Barua, assistant professor, expressed gratitude, and Sankar Jyoti Bora served as the program’s anchor, according to a press release.
