NTPC Bongaigaon marks Int’l Women’s Day

KOKRAJHAR, March 9: NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated International Women’s Day on Sunday with a series of events highlighting women’s empowerment, leadership and participation.

The programme, organised at NTPC Bongaigaon in Salakati, witnessed active participation from women employees of the power station, members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, women personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and teachers from Notre Dame School and Ankur Tiny Tots School.

The event was held around the themes “Give to Gain” and “She Leads Bharat”.

Addressing the gathering, Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, appreciated the dedication and achievements of women employees and acknowledged their contribution to the organisation’s growth.

He stressed the importance of building an inclusive work environment that encourages women to excel and contribute to organisational progress.

Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of Human Resources at NTPC Bongaigaon, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the vital role played by women in strengthening workplace culture.

One of the highlights of the event was a session on financial planning by Priyanka Nahata from IntyGritty MoneyTree, an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor based in Bongaigaon.

She spoke on financial awareness, investment planning and the importance of financial independence for women.

The programme also included an experience-sharing session where participants spoke about their personal and professional journeys.

A Women’s Day quiz added an interactive element to the celebrations.

As part of the event, a Women’s Premier League Cricket Tournament was launched for women employees, family members and members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club in association with the NTPC Bongaigaon Sports Council.

Four teams—Brahmaputra Brigade, Champa Challengers, Manas Mavericks and Aie Aces—named after rivers of Assam will compete in the tournament, which will continue for the next ten days.

The sports event began with a cake-cutting ceremony and the release of multi-coloured balloons by the participating teams in the presence of the general manager.

A “Shakti Walk” was also organised to promote the spirit of unity and women’s leadership.

Another attraction of the programme was a demonstration by an electric vehicle manufacturer showcasing electric scooters and promoting sustainable mobility.

The celebrations concluded with gift distribution, a group photograph and lunch.

More than 100 women from the NTPC Bongaigaon township took part in the programme.
