Opium and heroin seized

BOKAJAN, May 18: Dillai Police in Karbi Anglong seized opium from a car bearing registration number AS01BU 4555 at Dillai Check Gate. The car, coming from Dimapur and destined for Rajasthan, was found to contain opium packed in four packages weighing 3.5 kg.

The driver of the car, identified as Mohammad Mohsin, was arrested in connection with the case.

In another incident, drugs were recovered from a car bearing registration number AS01 BT 8839 earlier on Saturday morning. The car, also coming from Dimapur, was intercepted and searched at Dillai.

The suspected drugs, believed to be heroin, were packed in 50 identical plastic cases weighing a total of 573 gm, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.15 crore.

One Prince Mao, a resident of Senapati in Manipur, was apprehended. The contraband was intended to be delivered in Guwahati.
