NAGAON, May 13: In a bid to promote a culture of startups and entrepreneurship, Nagaon district administration in association with Startup Assam, NERAMAC and Assam Agribusiness Growth Lab (AAGL) organised a day-long orientation session on startups and entrepreneurship at Nowgong College on Friday.
Over 150 people from various walks of life such as students, small business owners, SHG members and agribusiness owners participated in the programme. Nagaon deputy commissioner Nisarg Hivare, IAS graced the occasion as the chief guest while Dr Sarat Borkotoky, principal of the college; Manoj Das, MD NERAMAC and Rajiv Ashok, MD Designate, NERAMAC were present as the guests of honour.
The panellists from Startup Assam, AAGL and NERAMAC highlighted their various schemes and activities while also explaining the various stages of startup mentoring and entrepreneurship. Two successful entrepreneurs from Jolkuwori and Zerund Bricks, Dipankar Kashyap and David Gogoi also shared their journey and the challenges they faced.
Overall, it was a good interactive session and the participants gave positive feedback. This was followed by a short meeting at the circuit house with the DC and the other panellists to chalk out a future roadmap for the district. It is however expected that Nagaon will emerge as a centre for startups and entrepreneurship in the state, an official release issued by DIPRO, Nagaon added.
