NAGAON, Feb 17: Over 500 people joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kaliabor on Monday.
The joining ceremony was held at the Misa Milan Sangha hall in Kaliabor.
The event was addressed by BJP MP from the Kaziranga parliamentary constituency, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, who spoke about the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led government in Assam as well as at the Centre. He expressed confidence that the party would win the upcoming Assembly elections and form the government in the state.
Several leaders from the Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and other parties joined the BJP during the event. Prominent leaders present included BJP leaders Harek Krishna Mahato, Simanchal Digal, Karuna Bhuyan and Bhaskar Saikia.
BJP leader Jiten Jit Gowr stated that the party organisation is growing stronger in Kaliabor, with people from all sections joining the party. He claimed that the people of Kaliabor want the BJP to win the upcoming elections.
The BJP leader also expressed hope that the party would be allocated the Kaliabor Assembly constituency in the seat-sharing arrangement with the AGP.
