GUWAHATI, Feb 14: The decision by Indian Railways to introduce several additional train stoppages at 82 stations across Assam, West Bengal and Bihar under Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been met with widespread appreciation and celebration. Citizens across towns and rural areas expressed happiness over improved access to Mail/Express and premium trains, viewing the new stoppages as opportunities for easier, faster and more dignified travel.
At Dhemaji Railway Station, the stoppage of Train No 20505/20506 Dibrugarh-New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express was hailed as a historic milestone. Similarly, Sivsagar Town Railway Station saw celebrations for the new stoppage of Train No 20503/20504 Dibrugarh-New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, with residents welcoming the train with flowers, sweets and applause.
Excitement was also visible at Kamarbandha Ali Railway Station for the 15603/15604 Guwahati-Ledo-Guwahati Intercity Express, at Kalchini Railway Station for the 15467/15468 Siliguri-Bamanhat-Siliguri Express and in New Coochbehar for the inaugural stoppage of the 22449 Guwahati-New Delhi Express. In Lower Assam, the Saraighat Express (12346/12345) stoppage at Goalpara Town Railway Station and the Silghat Town-Tambaram Express stoppage at Nalbari station drew similar appreciation. The 15769/15770 Alipurduar Jn.–Mariani Jn –Alipurduar Jn. Intercity Express stoppage at Sorupeta Railway Station was also warmly welcomed. Across the region, the additional stoppages have been seen not just as improved transport facilities but as recognition of local aspirations and growing regional importance. Indian Railways and NFR have strengthened both connectivity and public confidence, reinforcing their commitment to inclusive service and citizen welfare.
