PHED minister reviews JJM progress in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG, March 23: In order to ensure smooth progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission in Dima Hasao district, PHED minister Jayanta Malla Baruah called on a review meeting with senior officials of the PHE at deputy commisioner’s office, Halflong on Thursday.

In the meeting the minister took stock of the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in regards to DPR, administrative approval, total number of ongoing schemes, things which have been completed & handed over to water user’s committee and enquired about the overall progress of work as well as instructed the officials to complete the procedure in a time bound manner.

As Dima Hasao is prone to flood and face acute water crisis, he put special emphasis on ensuring the adequate availability of pure drinking water to each and every household of the locality. He also stressed upon the ongoing Swachh Bharat Mission and reviewed the status of IHHL, ODF plus and GOBARDHAN scheme.

Baruah thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his gratitude for sanctioning Rs 250 cr initially and further increasing it to more than Rs 600 cr for JJM in Dima Hasao.

Baruah added that with the budget of more than 850 cr, the work pattern of JJM in Dima Hasao district will gain more momentum in coming days. He expressed hope and mentioned that every household of Dima Hasao will soon have access to pure drinking water through household tap connection.

The meeting was attended by CEM Debolal Gorlosa, executive members of council among others.
