Pijush Hazarika inaugurates new Vajpayee Bhawan, library and park

State Cabinet Minister kicks off development initiatives in Demow

DEMOW, March 4: With the Assembly elections around the corner, the new Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan was inaugurated in Demow on Monday by Pijush Hazarika, State Cabinet Minister. The event was attended by Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of the 95 No Demow Constituency, Bitupan Raidongia, Sivasagar District BJP president and several party workers.

Speaking to the media, Hazarika appreciated the efforts of party karyakartas under the leadership of Sushanta Borgohain for constructing a functional office in the constituency. He said that in the absence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state president Dilip Saikia, he had the honour of cutting the red ribbon and congratulated the party workers. He urged everyone to work hard to ensure victory for the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections and to secure a third term for the state government under Dr Sarma.

Following the inauguration, Hazarika, along with Borgohain, attended a constituency-level youth conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at the Demow Public Playground. The programme was presided over by BJYM president Rakesh Das, along with other BJYM leaders.

Hazarika also inaugurated the renovation and modernization of the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Public Library in Demow, rebuilt under a CSR initiative by Oil India Limited in collaboration with the District Mineral Foundation Trust, Sivasagar. He lit the ceremonial lamp in front of the statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

In the evening, on behalf of the State Chief Minister, Hazarika inaugurated the rejuvenation of Demow Pond under AMRUT 2.0 and 15th FC tied grant, along with its adjoining park named “Bokulbon.” The event was attended by Sushanta Borgohain, Pollabita Boruah, Chairperson of Demow Municipal Board and several other dignitaries.
