CM hands over appointment letters to TET teachers ** Bhumi Pujan for 4-lane flyover performed

DIPHU, April 16: Chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday was in Diphu to perform Bhumi Pujan for construction of 4-lane flyover from Diphu stadium to Diphu Head Post Office, ceremonial handing over of appointment letters to 884 TET qualified teachers; distribution of cheques to journalists and writers and one time grant to former cadres of six armed groups.
The CM after arriving at Taralangso helipad proceeded to Diphu town and performed Bhumi Pujan near the office of East Division Forest department, Rongnihang, for construction of Rs. 243 crores 4-lane flyover from Diphu stadium to Diphu Head Post Office on Lumding –Dimapur Road.
He then proceeded to Joysing Doloi Auditorium, where he distributed appointment letters to 884 numbers of selected TET qualified candidates as assistant teachers (Regular) and contractual. For the post of assistant teachers (Regular) Upper Primary were 108 posts, for Maths and Science teachers (Regular) Upper Primary were 25 posts, assistant teachers (Regular) Primary under PED were 192 posts and assistant teachers (Contractual) under SSA were 559 posts.
He also distributed cheques of Rs.1 lakhs to one time financial assistance for authors, where 18 writers received the benefit; another scheme one time insurance premium to journalists of cheque of Rs. 4 to 6 lakhs to 32 journalists and one time financial assistance to journalists and authors (Posthumous) of Rs. 50,000. 18 authors and journalists have received the benefit.
In this scheme the families of two deceased journalists Rajiv Mech, Diphu, correspondent for Agradoot Assamese daily and Rubul Dihingia, Bokajan correspondent for News Live news channel also received the amount.
On the occasion the chief minister also distributed a cheque of Rs. 15,000 as a one time financial assistance to 88 law graduates.
It may be mentioned here that the above schemes were introduced by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
After the programme at Joysing Doloi Auditorium, while interacting with the media, the chief minister said that neither the government nor the BJP has any link with the statement made by a professor of Cotton University on April 12 in Diphu.
The chief minister said, “We have never thought of that and it is not the opinion of the BJP either. If someone had said so, it is in no way representing the Assam Government and the BJP. We don’t want any enmity between communities and caste. We always wanted the scheduled tribe people to stay united and on good terms with each other. The BJP led Government and the BJP do not have any relation with such a person.”
The alleged provocative statement was made by a professor of Cotton University, Dr. Gyanendra Barman at the Tribal Conference held here at Government Boys HS School playground on April 12.
The CM then proceeded to Diphu Government Boys Higher Secondary School to distribute one time grant of Rs. 4 lakhs cheques to cadres of six armed groups who have signed an MoS with the State and Central Government in April, 2021. Altogether 1,030 cadres were beneficiaries of the cheques.
There were Karbi Longri & NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) 190 cadres, from Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) were 460, from People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) were 190 and from United People’s Liberation Army (UPLA) were 190.
Sarma said that as part of implementation of Karbi Peace Accord, the State Government promised to extend all possible help for rehabilitation of surrendered militants and accordingly fixed deposits have been provided to them today.
Stating that under the peace accord, steps will be initiated to set up a university, Agriculture College, Airport etc. within the Council area, Dr. Sarma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the district on April 28 to give a new momentum to peace and development in the KAAC region.
HAD minister Jogen Mohan and CEM KAAC Tuliram Ronghang also spoke on the occasion.
