ABSU stages protest demonstration

KOKRAJHAR, March 12: Police administration in Kokrajhar have intensified their strict investigation into the murder of school teacher Berlao Bethao Brahma alias Bibhash Brahma and subsequently arrested two persons and detained seven others for interrogation.
Notably, Brahma was the headmaster of Kumguri LP School, who was kidnapped and later murdered by miscreants on Thursday.
Police have so far arrested two persons who were involved with the incident. They have been identified as Gauranga Sarkar and Abhijit Sen.
Family members of the victim lodged an FIR with the police and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
Police administration has been intensifying its investigation into the incident and is hopeful that all the involved culprits would be booked within a few days.
Meanwhile, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) staged a two-hour sit in protest demonstration on Saturday against the murder of Berlao Bethao Brahma alias Bibhash Brahma.
The protest demonstration was carried out at Bodofa Children Park in Kokrajhar and they demanded strict investigation and punishment for the involved culprits with immediate steps.
The student union activists and several organisations like Bodo Primary Teachers Association, Boro Somaj, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Tribal Sangha participated in the protest demonstration which was organised by Kokrajhar district committee of ABSU to pressurise the government to take immediate steps for investigation.
Several hundred students from different schools, colleges and ABSU members took part in the demonstration by holding banners and placards.
A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through the deputy commissioner of Kokrajhar seeking immediate steps against the culprits of the heinous crime.
ABSU general secretary Khanindra Basumatary while participating in the demonstration demanded a strict investigation into the incident.
He has urged the government and police administration to take strict steps against the incident.
He has sought an immediate intervention from the chief minister and DGP of Assam to nab the involved culprits.
