Poshan Maah 2022 and Matru Vandana Saptaah inaugurated in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG, Sept 5: The ‘Poshan Maah 2022’ and ‘Matru Vandana Saptah’ in Dima Hasao district were inaugurated at a function held in Agriculture Guest House in Haflong. It was organised under the aegis of the Social Welfare department.
Rebecca Changsan, ACS, jt. secretary of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council formally inaugurated the function in presence of joint director of Health Services Dr. Kalpana Kemprai and other officials.
Rajdeep Kemprai, dy. director in charge, Social Welfare dept during his welcome speech spoke about the significant steps taken under the programme for the wellbeing of both mother and child.
Rebecca Changsan inaugurating the programme said that steps are being taken by the Government to improve and enhance the nutritional status of the pregnant women as well as lactating mothers. Children are properly being monitored and made aware about the values of nutritious food.
Briefing about the programmes presentation on ‘Poshan Maah 2022’ was given by David Bathari, District co-ordinator of Poshan Abhiyan, Dima Hasao and presentation on ‘Matru Vandana Saptah’ was given by Ringsaw Jidung, district programme co-ordinator, Pradhan Mantrir Matru Vandana Saptah 2022.
‘Healthy Child Award’ was also given to eight children whose parameters met the required level and for maintaining good health and hygiene.
This programme will be conducted extensively on a door-to-door campaign by the Anganwadi workers, ASHAS as well as officials of AYUSH. Through this programme, the socio-economic profile of women will be assessed which will assist in future courses of action.
Others present during the programme were Parkey Gogoi, Horticulture scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonia Langthasa, home scientist from KVK, CDPOs, NGOs, women organisations, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, SBCC coordinator of UNICEF and others.
