DIBRUGARH, Dec 16: Assam Cabinet Minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan on Tuesday attended the Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award distribution ceremony at Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi (DHSK) College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh.
As part of the state government’s Pragyan Bharati Scheme, Minister Phukan distributed scooters to meritorious students who secured 80 per cent and above marks in the 2025 Higher Secondary Examination. The initiative aims to encourage academic excellence and provide mobility support to students performing well in state board examinations.
During the programme, the Minister also handed over certificates to the awardees in the presence of DHSK College Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia and other dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, Phukan lauded the students for their hard work and dedication, noting that such incentives are intended to motivate youth to pursue higher education with greater confidence and determination.
The Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, a key component of the Pragyan Bharati Scheme, is implemented across Assam to recognise and support deserving students. The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and nurturing talent for the state’s future development.
