DIPHU, July 5: Newly elected president Mirjeng Kro and general secretary George Timung of the Karbi Students Association (KSA-Inglongpho) were administered the oath of office for a two-year term from 2023 to 2025 in a ceremony held here at the KSA central executive committee (KSA-CEC) office in Rongthe-ang. The oath of office was administered by KSA advisor Bijoy.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the president, Kro, said, “There is a very big responsibility on us to work for the students welfare and to improve the educational atmosphere in the district. We assure you that we will do our best for our society. Also, the KSA will always extend cooperation in striving for an autonomous state.”
Kro also informed that very soon an executive meeting will be convened to induct new members and discuss a course of action to be taken by KSA.
The general secretary, George Timung, said, “Leaders of units, branches, Sub-branch, head branches, regional committees, and central committees have strong faith in me and elected me as their general secretary. I thanked them for their immense support. We will stress increasing the matric pass percentage and find why the foundation level is not good.”
He further said that in Karbi Anglong, infrastructure development is given more importance than the development of human resources. The KSA will give preference to human resource development. The general secretary also said that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) should give importance to human resource development alongside infrastructure development.
Timung said the KSA will always support the autonomous state demand and will not compromise.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by former KSA leaders, including Ratul Teron, Ashok Teron, and others.
