‘Print Journalism: Footsteps Of Women From Assam’ Unveiled In Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Nov 20: Nabajyoti Dutta’s latest book, ‘Print Journalism: Footsteps of Women from Assam,’ was unveiled in a special ceremony at DHSK Commerce College in Dibrugarh on November 16. Renowned journalist Ikbal Ahmed, attending as the chief guest, praised the book for filling a significant gap in documenting the history of women’s participation in journalism in Assam.

 

Ahmed highlighted the book’s research-based approach, covering the chronological history of women’s involvement in the challenging profession through various newspapers and magazines. He commended the efforts to portray the evolution of women’s roles in journalism from the beginning in Assam until the middle of the first decade of the 21st century. Ahmed, a trustee of the Assam Media Trust and advisor of the All Assam Journalists’ Association, expressed hope that the book would be a milestone in the state’s journalism world.

The event, jointly organized by the Assamese Department of the College and the state-level voluntary body ‘S. I. Media Foundation, Assam’ (SIMFA), was chaired by Dr. Khanindra Mishra Bhagawati, the College’s Principal. Sanjit Bordoloi, Secretary-General of SIMFA, and other local dignitaries from education and journalism graced the occasion as special guests. Dr. Bidisha Mahanta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the college, anchored the function.

 

Dr. Nabajyoti Dutta, the author and head of the Assamese department at the college, expressed his satisfaction with the book’s release, emphasizing that it was the result of his long-standing desire and effort. He also expressed his commitment to enriching future editions of the book.
