Queen Mother of Bhutan to receive Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award 2025

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 29: Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Bhutan, has been selected for the prestigious Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award 2025. The announcement was made by Dr Bishnu Prasad Brahma, Power of Attorney of the Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT).

The award, instituted in memory of visionary leader Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, recognises individuals who have rendered exemplary service to humanity, transcending boundaries of region, nation and identity. The 2025 award carries a cash prize of Rs 2,00,000, along with a citation and a memento.

The award presentation ceremony is scheduled for February 3, 2026, at the Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium, Bodoland University, Kokrajhar. Assam Governor His Excellency Lakshman Prasad Acharya will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Sjt Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) will attend as Special Guest.

Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck is internationally revered for her compassionate leadership and lifelong humanitarian work. As the founding president of the Tarayana Foundation, she has championed holistic rural development, focusing on poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, education, healthcare and cultural preservation in Bhutan’s remotest regions. She is also a distinguished author and patron of the arts, contributing significantly to Bhutan’s cultural and literary landscape.
