Through traditional dance, music, and theatre, the festival honours the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. The celebration also features regional cuisine, crafts, and customs.
Lord Krishna’s birth, mischief, demon-killing, victory over King Kansa, and interactions with the Gopis are all depicted in the festival’s performances.
The biggest populated river island in the world, Majuli Island, is the site of the event. Majuli, a hub of Vaishnavite culture, is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River.
Devotees and visitors from all around the region come to the festival. During the event, locals on the island frequently host visitors in their homes.
