JORHAT, May 1: State vice-president, spokesperson and observer of Raijor Dal Dibyajyoti Sarmah, a resident of Cinnamara here, has quit the party.
Sarmah on Sunday evening said that he had sent his resignation letter to the party president.
Sarmah said that he had stated in the letter that the party (Raijor Dal) which was formed after many years of carrying out struggle for the rights and interests of the people of the state, has failed to attend to the issues concerning the people in recent times.
He further said in the letter the party which was established with certain goals and objectives has deviated from its path and instead has been hobnobbing with political parties like All India Trinamool Congress and Indian National Congress.
Sarmah further stated in the letter in view of his pointing out the said issues in party forum and not getting any response in this regard and instead chided for the same, he (Sarmah) was quitting all posts along with primary membership of the party.
It may be mentioned here that Sarmah, a close associate of Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, since over the past two decades, had written books on Gogoi.
