GUWAHATI, March 19: The 84th CRPF Day -2023 has been celebrated with great pomp and show by 175 Bn, CRPF, Rani, Kamrup (Assam).
On this occasion, KL Dhiman, 2-1/C commandant (AOL) took salute of ceremonial guard and hoisted the flag at unit quarter guard.
Thereafter, a sainik sanmelan was organised in the recreation room of unit headquarter under the chairmanship of KL Dhiman, 2-1/C, commandant (AOL).
In his address, the commandant (AOL) briefed all officers and men about the importance of CRPF Day wherein CRPF was presented colour (Flag) by first home minister of republic India Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel on March 19, 1950 in a grand ceremony.
In his address Dhiman briefed the sainik sanmelan about glorious history of largest paramilitary force of Nation comprising 4 Zones, 21 Adm & 2 Ops sectors, 39 Adm range, 17 Ops ranges, 43 GC’s, four 100 bedded composite hospitals, eighteen 50-bedded hospitals, 22 training institutions, 247 Bns including 15 RAF, 10 Cobra, 6 mahila, 5 signal, 5 VIP, 1 PDG, 1 SDG units.
He highlighted achievement, growth & valiant, brave action of CRPF troops at hot spring (Ladakh) on October 21, 1959 and Rann of Kach in Gujarat border in 1965 where CRPF troops gave befitting reply to Chinese and Pakistani army respectively.
He further briefed the Jawans that CRPF is the most versatile & reliable force of the country due to which it is always requisitions by states and central govt. He encouraged and urged all to be proud to be a member of this great force. Emphasising multiple role of this force Dhiman informed that force has its different wings like rapid action force, special duty group, parliament duty group, COBRA battalion and VIP security battalion, PDG, SDG etc deployed across country to meet different type of challenges.
The women posted in the force are also working shoulder to shoulder with their male colleagues and are rendering their duties with alacrity. He further asserted that CRPF has not only controlled militancy in Punjab and J&K, insurgency in Northeast and naxalism in LWE corridor of India but also officers and men of CRPF have rendered their valuable and dedicated services in Srilanka, Liberia, Haiti, Somalia, Kosovo etc as U.N. Peace Keeping force.
