Renowned Tezpur gynecologist Dr Anil Dutta passes away at 71

TEZPUR, April 24: Dr. Anil Dutta, a prominent physician and widely respected gynecologist from Tezpur, passed away on Wednesday morning (April 23) at a private hospital in Gurgaon, New Delhi.

He was 71.

A resident of the Dhanu Nagar–Gopinath Bordoloi Nagar area, Dr. Dutta had been battling a prolonged illness and was undergoing treatment in Delhi in recent days.

His mortal remains arrived in Tezpur this morning.

As news of his passing spread, members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), along with numerous colleagues and well-wishers from the medical fraternity, visited his residence to pay their last respects to the departed soul.

Born on January 13, 1954, in Harisinga, Dr. Dutta began his education at No-2 Khasia Gaon Primary School.

He pursued his Pre-University studies at Arya Vidyapeeth College in Guwahati, before enrolling at Guwahati Medical College in 1972. He earned his MBBS degree in 1977 and later completed his MD in Gynecology.

Dr. Dutta initially served at Dholpur Government Hospital and joined the Assam government health services in 1986.

He settled in Tezpur in 1990, where he served in various capacities as a dedicated medical officer. Known for his compassionate care and commitment to the profession, he was closely associated with the Tezpur chapter of the Indian Medical Association and the IMA Academy of Medical Specialties.

His passing has left a deep void in the medical community and among the many patients whose lives he touched.

The loss of Dr. Dutta is being widely mourned across the region.
