Reverse: Swasthya Sewa Abhiyan Across Assam Initiated

GUWAHATI, Aug 25: The National Health Mission, Assam organised a one day Swasthya Sewa Abhiyan – Special Health Camp, in all the districts of the State on Thursday.

 

According to the NHM, Assam, each district identified a particular location in one block in their respective districts to organise the event.

This special health camp was held under the leadership of Dr M S Lakshmi Priya, mission director, NHM, Assam, with a vision to bring medical specialists, diagnostic tests, medical facilities, especially for mother and child care in one location for facilitating health services for the people, in addition to other specialities like ophthalmic, ENT, dental, dermatology, etc.

 

The health camps were inaugurated by the local legislators in certain districts while the deputy commissioners, additional deputy commissioners (health) and the joint directors inaugurated the events in some other districts.

The NHM, Assam said that the people visiting the health camps were screened for common Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes, hypertension, common cancers (oral & breast) among others. Diagnostic and lab testing facilities were provided for Hepatitis, HIV/STD, urine, RBS among others. Mental health screening, Tuberculosis sputum test, leprosy screening among other health services were also done.

 

Specialists (Obstetrics and gynaecology, Medicine and Paediatrics) present in the health camps screened pregnant women and children for high risk conditions.

 

Any such cases detected were referred to higher health facilities, immediately, for health intervention and case management.

 

Besides health screening and diagnostic services, other activities like routine immunisation, Covid-19 vaccination, ABHA ID card generation, awareness and wellness activities were also carried out in the health camp.

 

Till the filing of this report more than 10,000 people visited the health camp and were screened for various ailments, or availed the health services. It may be noted that such Swasthya Sewa Abhiyan – special health camps, will be held in all the blocks of the districts from the coming month onwards.
