NAGAON, May 6: In a tragic road mishap, a school student died on the spot while two others were seriously injured at the Rupahi weekly market in Nagaon on Monday.
According to sources, the incident took place when a speeding dumper bearing the registration number ‘AS 25 EC 8723’ mowed down the deceased along with his two schoolmates. The dumper also collided with a motorcycle bearing the registration number ‘AS 01 AL 1637’.
The deceased student has been identified as Mahmood Zaman, a resident of the Gunanori village. The injured students have been identified as Ekramul Haque of Gunabori village and Iftikhar Ahmed of Gereki village under Rupahihat Police Station. Soon after the incident the Rupahihat police rushed to the spot and immediately sent the injured students to the Nagaon Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was sent to the Nagaon BP Civil Hospital for post mortem.
Police have already seized the dumper and motorcycle and are investigating the matter.
