HT CorrespondentSIVASAGAR, Aug 30: Topon Kumar Gogoi, MP Jorhat, while distributing scooties to beneficiaries under Sakhi Express Scheme in Sivasagar Amolapatty Hindu Dharma Namghar premises on Tuesday, said that the Government in the Centre as well as in the State have been striving to give every individual opportunity to live a dignified life and to ensure that all the workers involved in Krishi Sakhi, Bima Sakhi, etc., schemes work hard.
MP Kamakhya Pd Tassa said that in bringing about development in the rural and agricultural sector, the role of Sakhi is vital. They must now contribute to the cultural sector as well.
Sushanta Borgohain, MLA, Thowra said that every rural household needs to be economically self-reliant which can only ensure Assam’s position among the top five states.
Fifteen community resource persons among the 199 selected received the keys of the scooties. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Surajjyoti Gogoi, project director, Assam Gramin Jivika Abhijan. Pronab Bora, principal, SIRD; Promod Borgohain, project officer, SIRD; Rekha Kalita, Nityananda Kalita and other P&Rd department officers were also present on the occasion.
