KOKRAJHAR, Nov 9: The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) Kokrajhar extended a warm welcome to the Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) team in a colourful ceremony on Sunday, marked by the presentation of the traditional Aronai and the collective singing of the national song “Vande Mataram” to mark its 150th year.
The SEIL initiative launched by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1965, seeks to promote the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” by fostering national integration, cultural understanding and unity among students from different parts of the country.
This year’s SEIL delegation includes students from Puducherry, Jammu, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, who are touring the northeastern region to explore its rich culture, traditions, language, lifestyle and cuisine. During their visit to CIT Kokrajhar, the team was briefed on the struggles, sacrifices, governance, community life and vibrant cultural heritage of Bodoland—a region celebrated for its resilience and unity in diversity. The visiting students expressed deep admiration for the warmth, hospitality and traditions of the people of Bodoland.
The event was filled with patriotic fervour as students and faculty joined together in singing “Vande Mataram”, symbolising unity, pride and a shared national identity. Speakers at the event highlighted that initiatives like SEIL play a crucial role in nurturing mutual respect, cultural understanding and national solidarity. Concluding the programme, Dr. Pranav Kumar Singh, on behalf of the CIT Kokrajhar family, expressed heartfelt gratitude to ABVP Assam Pradesh for bringing the SEIL team to the institute and fostering an enriching exchange of ideas and experiences.
