SI Rabha death: CID interrogates OC Dhing Raja Irshad, driver

NAGAON, May 20: Although the case of mysterious ‘death’ of SI Junmoni Rabha has been declared to hand over to CBI probe by DGP Assam as well as state government, the CID team, led by SP Dhruba Bora who is camping here at Nagaon for last couple days, interrogated Raja Irshad, officer in charge of Dhing PS, driver of police vehicle attached to Morikolong police outpost and the prime eyewitness of the suspicious road accident at Sarubhogia under Jakhalabandha PS on May 16 –  Pranab Das, the youth of Bokakhat here on Saturday.

It’s pertinent to mention here that the name of Raja Irshad has been attached to the case of mysterious ‘death’ of SI Junmoni Rabha after lodging FIR at Jakhalabandha PS by the deceased mother on Friday last. In the FIR, Junmoni’s mother Sumitra Rabha alleged that Raja Irshad, OC, Dhing PS also came along with SP Leena Doley, ASP Tridib Kumbang to the official quarter of SI Junmoni Rabha and conducted a surprise raid at the official quarter of SI Junmoni at around 2 to 2-30 am on that fatal night. Sumitra however asserted in the FIR that during the raid, Raja Irshad locked her mobile phone and also took thump print on a blank piece of paper. Besides, Raja Irshad came again early in the morning on Tuesday and forcefully took another thump print on another blank piece of paper saying simply to her that her daughter met with an accident last night.

Meanwhile Manoj Rajbangshi, OC Nagaon PS and additional superintendent of Police (Crime) Rupjyoti Kalita were closed to Assam police headquarters last evening while SI Abhajyoti Rabha, in-charge officer of Haibargaon Outpost has been closed to police headquarters late this morning. The names of all these police officers were stated in the FIR by the victim’s mother.

It’s noteworthy to be mentioned here that the name of additional superintendent of Police HQ Tridib Kumbang was also mentioned in the FIR by Sumitra Rabha on Friday here and alleged that ASP Tridib Kumbang was also accompanied the police team led by SP Leena Doley on that fatal night to conduct the surprise raid at Junmoni’s official quarter. But it is seen that the investigative agency are yet to quiz ASP Tridib Kumbang in this regard till the time of filing this report.

On the other hand, over hundred of party workers from five political parties including the opposition Congress, Raijor Dal, CPI, CPI (M) and CPI (ML) on Saturday staged a sit in protest against the mysterious death of SI Junmoni Rabha near at Motiram Bora park in the small town and sought a high level probe into the mysterious ‘death’ SI Junmoni Rabha. The protesters also demanded an adequate justice to the victim family. During the stir, the agitators strongly criticized the state police mechanism and also shouted various slogans against Assam police.

Similarly, Nagaon Zila Karmachari Parishad also expressed high concern on the mysterious ‘death’ of SI Junmoni Rabha and in a press note signed by the president and secretary of the organisation – Jajneswar Rajkhuwa and Shyamanta Das respectively urged the government to ensure the exact cause of her  death through proper investigation or probe.
