NAGAON, May 19: Terming the mysterious ‘death’ of SI Junmoni Rabha as a pre-planned murder, Sumitra Rabha, the mother of the deceased, finally lodged an FIR at Nagaon Jakhalabandha PS today here and sought an imperial probe into the entire episode. She stated that her daughter was found dead inside her personal car amidst some mysterious coincidences and situations near Sorubhogia under Jakhalabandha PS in the wee hours of Tuesday last.

Asking for complete imperial justice, the mother of the deceased SI stated almost all sequences as well as other co-incidences occurred just before the mysterious death of SI Junmoni Rabha, including prolonged questioning of her daughter in the evening of the fatal night by SP Leena Doley, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Tridib Kumbang, a surprise raid at 2am by SP, ASP (HQ), and others, taking thumb signatures on blank paper, etc. in the FIR.

In the FIR, Sumitra Rabha claimed that she talked to her daughter over mobile phone around 10 pm that night, and her daughter assured her that she was along with SI Abhajyoti Rabha, incharge officer of Haibargaon Outpost, and assured her not to worry about anything else. But when it was 11 pm, she tried to contact SI Junmoni Rabha, she found both of her mobile phones switched off. Again, she tried to contact her daughter at 11:30 pm. She found one of her phones ringing, but she had not received her call, and thereafter, she found that both mobiles were switched off.

Amidst these developments on that fatal night, a police team led by SP Leena Doley, ASP Tridib Kumbang, OC Dhing Raja Irshad, and some police personnel forcefully entered her daughter’s official quarter and vandalised all bags and other belongings in the quarter. During the surprise raid, SP Leena Doley and others seized Rs 1.30 lakh being kept for treatment of her ailing son, Rs 3 lakh kept by her daughter, SI Junmoni Rabha, and some paper documents from the quarter. Besides, the police team took her thump signature on a blank piece of paper, Sumitra Rabha stated in the FIR, adding that she was informed that a case was registered against her child and hence she was absconding from police.

When I requested Raja Irshad, OC, Dhing to make a call to her, he locked my phone so that I could not call anyone else, Sumitra Rabha stated in the FIR. In the very early morning of Tuesday last, OC, Dhing Raja Irshad again came to the quarter and asked the actual names of her husband and herself and also took a thump signature on a blank paper and left the quarter, saying that SI Junmoni Rabha met an accident near Jakhalabandha and also carried out the post mortem without proper permission of the family, Sumitra Rabha alleged. She stated further in the FIR that it was found that some spots were found on the body of her daughter, which were like the marks of being “thrashed” by an iron rod just at the cremation ground as her body was packed in a coffin box.

The CID team led by SP Dhruba Bora took the arrested driver of the container truck, Sumit Kumar Paul, to the spot of the mysterious road mishap in which SI Junmoni Rabha was spotted dead today and examined as well as verified all in detail today. During the trip, an additional superintendent of police (HQ) of Nagaon district police accompanied the CID team.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that the only eyewitness to the mysterious ‘death’ of SI Junmoni Rabha, Pranab Das, was allegedly treated as a criminal instead of an eyewitness in Jakhalabandha PS. While speaking to a Guwahati-based senior journalist, Das alleged that he was not allowed to go to the toilet and that he was forced to sleep only on the floor in the PS.
