Silver Jubilee Of Sanmilita Bihu Sanmilan Concludes

SIVASAGAR, May 1: The three-day silver jubilee of ‘Sanmilita Rongali Bihu Sanmilan’ in Sivasagar which began on April 28 came to an end on Saturday with Zubeen’s musical programme that attracted a massive crowd. It was Zubeen’s third programme in Sivasagar this year. Twenty-five numbers of Bihuwans were hoisted by 25 eminent personalities of Sivasagar. Sapekhati HS School won the Husori competition among the educational institutions of the district which was held on day one. Other competitions like fashion show, Saru Bihuwati, Bor Bihuwoti, Mou Kunwari, Zeng Bihu and Bor Bihu competitions were held on April 29 and 30. Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP Assam was the chief guest on day one.

Saptarathii Zeng Bihu Dal won the first prize in the Zeng Bihu competition. Dhanishtha Deka was adjudged as Bor Bihuwoti, Dristi Das as Mou Kunwari and Darshika Dutta was adjudged the best Saru Bihuwoti. The JB College team won the quiz competition.

The souvenir published on the occasion was released by DC Sivasagar Megha Nidhi Dahal; ADC Bitupan Neog; ED Assam Asset ONGC, Rajesh Kumar Sarmah and GM Finance, ONGC M Ganesan. Dr PP Chetia, president and Sarat Hazarika, secretary of the Bihu Committee welcomed the guests and expressed thanks for lending support to the Bihu Committee’s effort to make it truly a confluence of diverse cultures. For the first time, a group from the Marwari community performed husori on the stage here.
