The day commenced with Purnakanta Bora, the president of Yuva-dal, raising the flag and offering floral tributes to departed members Arun Chandra Bairagee, Ratan Saikia, Khangendranath Saikia, and Biren Boaruah. The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities including Prof Sonaram Baruah, Sahityacharjya Nahendra Padun, Satradhikar Lakhikanta Mahanta, Prof Amal Chandra Dutta, and several other eminent figures from various fields.

The evening saw a theatrical rendition of Arun Sharma’s renowned drama ‘Bisoy Hobo Prem’ in memory of Prof Arun Chandra Bairagee, directed by the accomplished stage director Prasanta Sharma. The play delivered a thought-provoking social satire, challenging illogical thinking and societal whims through a captivating performance. The actors, particularly Prof Dilip Das portraying the OC, and Moinul Ahmed and Sanjeev Bhagawati as constables, added a dash of humor, while the entire cast, including Gautam Dutta Phukan, Sanjeev Bora, Santanu Chetia, Dhiraj Dutta, Bitopi Borthakur, and Dr. Sukalyan Das, contributed to the play’s impactful message.

Pankaj Pratim Bairagee, son of Arun Chandra Bairagee and Assistant Commandant of the Special Reserve Police Force, set the tone with a recitation of a poem, while the female members charmed the audience with their chorus performances, adding an enriching layer to the theatrical evening.
