Sok Divas Observed At All Offices And Educational Institutions In Dima Hasao

Haflong, Aug 16: Like previous years, as per instruction of the Government of Assam Sok Divas was observed across Dima Hasao by the officers and staff of all the departments and heads of the offices in their respective offices of the district headquarters and subdivisions at 11 AM on Tuesday.

This day is observed to mourn the tragic death of innocent persons in a bomb blast while attending the Independence Day celebration at Dhemaji in 2004. Various departments both under the council as well as the district administration took pledge to work unitedly for peace and harmony and raise voices against all acts of terrorism and militant, extremist violence.

At the office of the deputy commissioner the pledge was conducted by ADC A.R. Mazumder where one minute silence was observed by the officers and staffs present. Similarly at the council the office of the principal secretaries both transfer and normal and also each department at the council observed the day by taking pledge. Various educational institutions also marked the day by observing one minute silence and taking the pledge.

At places where national flags are normally flown at all Government offices, educational institutions and all other places, were flown at half mast on the day.
