Son kills mother in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 25: In a bizzare incident, two persons were killed within the 48 hours at two different places under Kokrajhar police station which have created sensation amongst the citizens.

In a tragic incident in Kokrajhar town, a 35-year-old drug-addicted son of former principal of the Kokrajhar Government College, Prof Nagen Brahma, residing in Ward No. 8 Mwiderkhoro (Hatimatha) of Kokrajhar Municipality Board, killed his own mother, Parbati Brahma, aged 80. The incident took place at her Hatimatha residence at around 9.30 pm on Monday evening, when she refused to give him money to purchase drugs.

According to the report, Padopani Brahma, 35, struck his mother in the head with a hard object after she refused to provide him money to purchase drugs, resulting in her death.

Police rushed the spot,and investigated into the incident.

Police apprehended the Padopani Brahma.

Meanwhile, a death body was recovered on Sunday morning at New Amguri village under Kokrajhar police station.

According to source,the body recovered was identified as Derhasat Narzary of the Amguri village who was brutally killed by a sharp weapon as body marked injuries.

Later, police arrested Sakio Basumatary of the Amguri village.

Sakio Basumatary revealed the incident that he killed Derhasat Narzary with a sharp weapon.

He also confessed that he had cordial relationship with the deceased.
