Special Immunisation Drive 2.0 for left out & dropout children to start from Dec 16 in Dima Hasao

GUWAHATI, Dec 13: The additional chief medical & health officer (FW) Dr Leena Hakmaosa convened a media sensitisation programme in the office chamber of additional chief medical & health officer (FW), Dima Hasao, Haflong on Tuesday.
Dr Leena, while addressing the media stated that the Health department of Dima Hasao district will start a ‘Special Immunisation Drive 2.0’ for left out and dropout children in routine immunisation from December 16, 2022. It is an opportunity to protect your child against life threatening diseases through vaccines under the Universal Immunisation Programme.
She added that there will be three weekly rounds under Special Immunisation Drive (SID) 2.0. The first round will start on December 16, 2022, second round on January 17, 2023 and third round on February 16, 2023. These left out and dropout children will be covered in SID 2.0 in different places of the district under the respective Block PHCs.
The immunisation programme provides protection against 13 life-threatening diseases like Diphtheria, Pertussis, (Whooping Cough), Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Rotavirus Diarrhoea, Measles, Rubella, Hepatitis -B, Meningitis due to HIV and Japanese Encephalitis, etc.
In the meantime, Dr Leena appealed to the parents to avail this opportunity to immunise their children to protect and prevent themselves against diseases.
