GUWAHATI, May 18: Government Model College, Kaziranga organised a special talk on ‘National Education Policy, 2020 and Opportunities in Government Model College, Kaziranga’ on Thursday. The vice-chancellor of Cotton University, Prof Ramesh Ch Deka and Prof Suvendra Kumar Ray, department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Tezpur University graced the occasion as invited speakers.
Dr Trinity Borgohain, assistant professor, department of Sociology and IQAC coordinator hosted the event and briefed the objective of the event on National Education Policy, 2020 and Opportunities in Government Model College, Kaziranga.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr HP Deka Boruah, principal, Government Model College, Kaziranga. In his welcome speech, he stressed that the aim of the lecture was to understand the National Education Policy, 2020 in detail and to implement it in Government Model College, Kaziranga. The vice-chancellor, Prof Ramesh Ch Deka in his speech depicted that the focus of NEP, 2020 is to provide holistic education that encompasses physical, spiritual, cognitive development of learners. In this context, he emphasised on multi-disciplinary research and drew inspiration from the ancient Indian knowledge system. Extending the logic of character building of an individual, the next invited speaker Prof Suvendra Kr Ray emphasised on the need of philosophical and spiritual orientation of body and mind. With reference to classical text of India, Prof Ray elaborated on both reductionist and holistic view of life and concludes that moral character building is essential for individual uplift.
Later, the principal of Government Model College, Kaziranga emphasised on how the presence of a gathered audience can be an opportunity to put a big leap in taking Government Model College, Kaziranga towards the next level of national importance.
The principals of different HEIs, Higher Secondary Schools and headmasters of High Schools of Golaghat and Karbi Anglong district of Assam along with their esteemed colleagues also joined the event. The engagement of faculties of Government Model College, Kaziranga made the event meaningful. The program was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Purabi Bhagawati, assistant professor, department of Sociology, Government Model College, Kaziranga. The talk was jointly coordinated by Dr Trinity Borgohain and Dr Purabi Bhagawati.
