State finance minister lays foundation stone of rail-over-bridge

JORHAT, Nov 4: State finance, women and child development minister Ajanta Neog, who is the also the
guardian minister of Jorhat district, on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the rail-over-bridge (ROB)
at Cinnamara, GarAli here.
Neog, speaking on the occasion, said that the proposed ROB would be able to substantially reduce
traffic congestion in the busy road and facilitate smooth movement of vehicles. She also spoke about
the activities undertaken for the all-round development of the state by chief minister Himanta Biswa
Sarma-led government.
She said, “Works on all fronts were underway in full pace to achieve the goal of making Assam among
the top five ranking states of the country as envisioned by the chief minister.”
Jorhat MP Topon Kumar Gogoi and MLAs of Jorhat, Mariani and Dergaon,offiocials from the Jorhat
district administration and public works department officials attended the ceremony.
It may be mentioned here that this ROB project will be the third one in Jorhat district with one at Na-Ali
being inaugurated by the chief minister on August 16 this year. The construction of another in front of
the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital is underway.

Earlier, Neog also chaired a review meeting of the state women and child development department at
the Jorhat Circuit House. She took stock of the progress of various departmental schemes and projects
underway in the district and gave necessary directions accordingly.
Prior to the meeting, the Neog along with state education minister Ranoj Pegu welcomed Bhutan King
Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk at the Jorhat airport at Rowriah here, en route the Kaziranga National
Park.
