According to the latest flood report issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the districts of Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Sonitpur, and Sivasagar continue to be affected by the floodwaters. Among these, Sivasagar is the hardest hit with nearly 10,890 people bearing the brunt of the floods, followed by Dhemaji with 2,753 affected individuals.

In comparison to the previous day, the number of affected people has decreased. On Tuesday, over 46,000 people were reported to be impacted by the floods across the same five districts.

Fortunately, no new fatalities were reported, keeping the total number of flood-related deaths this year at 14.

The ongoing flooding has resulted in the submersion of 137 villages and damage to 3,536.91 hectares of agricultural land on Wednesday, as stated by ASDMA.

Erosion has been particularly significant in Bongaigaon, Dhubri, and Golaghat, leading to damage to roads and other essential infrastructure in various locations including Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Jorhat, Majuli, and Sivasagar.

The Brahmaputra River’s water levels remain above the danger marks at Dhubri, Tezpur, and Neamatighat, posing ongoing challenges.

The widespread flooding has also adversely impacted domestic animals, with over 18,600 animals affected across the state, according to officials.
