State Govt Given Priority To Karbi Anglong’s Development: EM Amarsing Tisso

DIPHU, May 3: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 2503.91 crore in Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

Stating that the occasion will a ‘historic’ one, Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Amarsing Tisso said that the Assam government has given priority to the development Karbi Anglong by providing good roads, health facilities and by  distributing  ICDS kits and centres.

Tisso was addressing a press conference here at KAAC Secretariat today.

Besides Sarma, the event, to be held Taralangso, Diphu, will be attended by finance minister Ajanta Neog, education minister Ranoj Pegu, Hill Area Department Jugen Mohan and PHE minister Jayanta Baruah.

The event has been named as ‘Heralding Progress & Prosperity in Karbi Anglong’.

“Another 200 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Centres for Karbi Anglong through special package from the Assam government will be given,” he said adding that in December or before the Golden Jubilee celebration of Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) Rs. 2000 crore schemes, which include Cancer Hospital and over Bridge will be inaugurated.

EM Tisso further said, “On behalf of KAAC we have invited all former MP, MLAs, ministers and Padmashree Rongbong Terang and Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti, Dr. Dharamsing Teron and Karbi Students Association, Karbi Cultural Society and all apex body of various tribes.

The leaders of the six former armed organisations which have signed a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) and armed organisations of Kuki under ceasefire are invited to meet the chief minister.

In the second term of the BJP in Karbi Anglong, numerous development works were carried out, he said.

Howraghat MLA Darsing Ronghang also informed the foundation stones of all the development schemes of MLA under four MLA constituencies in Karbi Anglong will be laid by the chief minister.
