TEZPUR, March 22: ‘Next world war will be due to a water crisis, and hence we should use water like a precious diamond.’ Manjurani Bora, assistant professor Department of Geography Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Girls’ College said in a brief lecture on the importance of water to the students in the meeting held on Wednesday in Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Girls’ College to commemorate the World Water and Sanitation Day .

“Millions of people throughout the world are impacted by the urgent global water problem. According to the United Nations, it is very pathetic that 2.2 billion people lack access to clean drinking water and 4.2 billion lack access to sanitation facilities that are properly maintained. Furthermore, water contamination is another major issue because more than 80% of wastewater is released into the environment without being adequately treated.
This crisis’ effects are very bad because they touch on everything from food security and economic growth to health and cleanliness. The need for water will rise as the world’s population is expected to reach 9.8 billion people by the year 2050.” She added that water is essential for life. Life begins with water; therefore, when we plant a seed in the ground, it won’t grow unless we give it nourishment. We feed that seed water every day and eventually it develops into a plant. We only have access to the food we eat on a daily basis—fruits, vegetables, cereals, etc.-because of “water”. By examining our daily schedules, we can see how important water is! It is indispensable to make every drop of water matter
