Tezpur MLA launches ‘The Unsung Hero-1942’ book

TEZPUR, March 22: MLA Tezpur, Prithviraj Rabha, launched a book titled ‘The Unsung Hero-1942’ on Wednesday, authored by renowned playwright Niranjan Saikia, at a special function held for the occasion at Dekargaon Higher Secondary School near here.

While launching the book, MLA Rabha, in his commendable speech, praised noted playwright Niranjan Saikia’s effort to document the history and contributions made by the unsung heroes of the district of Sonitpur from Dhekiajuli, Sootea, to Gohpur towards India’s struggle for Independence. He emphasised that this endeavor would keep alive the life and works of the dedicated souls of the area for generations to come. During his speech, MLA Rabha further added that Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and his contemporaries had tremendous contributions throughout the journey for India’s independence.

Bidyut Sarma, retired head master of Satsang High School, hosted the meeting chaired by Geeta Rani Mali, principal of Dekargaon Higher Secondary School. Among others, the program was graced by the presence of former student leader Jasaskar Barua, publisher of the book Pradyut Hazarika, artist and teacher Mayur Kanchan Bora, and teaching staff of Dekargaon HS School.
